Now seen more clearly.
Divination is the excavation of the soul. The pushing beyond the mundane surface of things into the layers that predate language, reason, and the version of self the world sees daily. It is the moment you stop asking what will happen and start asking for what is already true beneath everything you've been too busy or too afraid to look at directly.
Alice didn't plan to go through the looking glass. She followed curiosity through an impossible threshold and found a world that operated by completely different rules.
Rules that made more sense than the ones she left behind.
That's divination.
The mind is activated to the part of the psyche that thinks in images rather than words. Recurring symbols, coincidences, patterns that appear too consistently to be dismissed.. Jung called it synchronicity, the rational mind cannot explain it and the symbolic mind cannot ignore it either.
The instruments.. Astrology, tarot cards, runes drawn in the dark is not the divination, it is the language. The symbolic vocabulary through which something the soul already knows becomes visible to the conscious mind. The card arrives and something deeper than thought says yes, that, exactly that. Before any interpretations or explanations, just pure recognition.
The soul recognised what it already knew through the symbols.
Divination honours both spirit and matter simultaneously. The physical card, the planetary position, the ancient rune made meaningful through spirit.. and spirit made visible through matter. The bridge between the seen and the unseen. The communion with the earth and all that is.
It challenges your need for scientific reasoning and solutions not because it is irrational but because it operates in the territory reason alone cannot map. It asks you to sit with ambiguity. To hold meaning that doesn't resolve into a single answer. To tolerate the complexity of a symbol that means several things simultaneously and trust that all of them are true.
That tolerance and willingness to remain in the not-knowing long enough for the deeper knowing to surface is the practice.
B&W approaches divination as excavation. Not as a claim to supernatural knowledge but as a commitment to symbolic honesty. The instruments are mirrors reflecting what is already present in the psyche. Divining just extends perception beyond what the rational mind can reach alone, making visible what was always there but needed the right language to surface.
Some say magic, others say superstition but I say it is the divinity and connection of all things made manifest.
And you have been doing it your whole life every time you noticed the pattern, felt the pull, followed the symbol without being able to explain why.
Now you have a name for it.
